Defense Attorney Reveals Expected Result For Chiefs’ Rashee Rice

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is facing some very serious charges stemming from his involvement in a six-car accident on March 30.

Rice—who has already been hit with an aggravated assault charge—appeared to be racing his Lamborghini at the time of the accident and fled the scene.

While many are wondering if Rice will end up going to prison for the incident, defense attorney Drew Davenport doesn’t think it’s likely.

“Unlikely. The charges are serious, but keep in mind the biggest factor in any criminal case – what is your history?” Davenport posted to his X account. “I don’t remember Rice having any prior criminal or traffic history. That matters. A lot.”

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the crash, which also may play a role in the result of Rice’s case.

Rice, who played his collegiate football at Southern Methodist, was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the NFL Draft last spring.

He enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign, playing in 16 games and hauling in 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. He then caught 26 passes for 262 yards and a score in Kansas City’s Super Bowl playoff run.

Of course, even if Rice doesn’t get jail time, there is a likelihood that he will still be tagged with a lengthy suspension by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

So, the Chiefs may end up being without Rashee Rice for an extended period of time regardless of whether or not he goes to prison.
