Joey Logano reveals stance on joining NASCAR broadcast booth after his retirement

“I don’t know when that time is yet, to be honest with you. I know it’s more than five years out. But I don’t know, I don’t know after that. We’ll just kind of have to wait and see,” Logano told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “How life is going, what’s going on. But it definitely seems like something that I would want to do.

“I don’t think I’m just going to, when I’m done driving, I’m not just going to leave the sport. I don’t agree with that.”

One of Logano’s inspirations in the venture has been Kevin Harvick, who Logano sees having a tremendous time since retiring last fall, and taking his talents to the FOX booth in 2024.

“You look at, what Kevin’s doing right now. Not only does he enjoy doing it, and I’m sure he’s getting paid to do it, but it’s great for the sport. It’s the right thing to do for the sport, on top of it. It’s a pretty relaxed schedule, in comparison to driving a car. There’s significantly less pressure up in the TV booth. It’s enjoyable,” Logano added. “Yeah, you might not win every time, but you’re definitely not going to lose. It’s just like, you know what you’re going to have when you wake up in the morning. For us right now, you wake up in the morning and it’s like, ‘Alright, I hope it’s a good one,’ if not, ‘Ugh,’ the week sucks. I don’t know, in TV you’re probably just going to roll through the same every week, for the most part. There’s probably a little bit of enjoyment to that.

“I was laughing, because I flew home with Kevin after Vegas. He was like, ‘Oh, how was your day boys?’ He’s there, happy as can be, joking around, having a grand old time. I’m like, ‘Eh.’ You’ve kind of got that anger in your stomach at that moment, because of the race. It’s funny. So some day, I’d like to do that, but for now, I still enjoy driving the car, and I’ll do that as long as I can be competitive.”

For now, Joey Logano is content to keep winning races and fill-in when his voice in needed throughout the weekend. At just 33-years-old, there’s plenty of time for Logano to get into broadcasting in the future, when his time at the top of his game is over.
