Joey Logano laments ‘toughest ever’ start to a season as 2024 continues to give him disappointments
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been eventful and disappointing for Team Penske Racing’s Joey Logano . The two-times Cup champion came into this year chasing redemption for the underwhelming title defense in 2023, but after four races into the season bad luck is depriving him of a strong start to the year.

Joey Logano has now come forward admitting that, this is the worst ever start to a year he has ever had. He then rated his performance on each track and pointed out that his runs at the Superspeedways were disappointing and even the P9 paying day at Vegas was mediocre.

It’s definitely the toughest start of a season I’ve ever had. Some of it is out of our control; some of it, in our control, but we just haven’t scored the points. The superspeedways, Atlanta, and our cars were really fast. Vegas, we were mediocre. Last week was a struggle. Logano told NASCAR.com.

Logano’s struggles can’t all be down to the car and his bad luck l, considering his teammate and reigning champion Ryan Blaney is leading the championship. He has to step up his game and have to execute well on the track to have a solid season in 2024.

Joey Logano and crew are continuing the dig for better finishes

Logano pointed out that though the team hasn’t yet pinpointed the core issues behind the struggle, they are working on it. He has a team that has won the championship twice, hence it wouldn’t be an impossible task for them, hence they are continuing to grind and dig.

This is the same team that’s won two championships, the team that knows how to do it. Paul (Wolfe, No. 22 crew chief) knows. We all know, we don’t really have to talk about it a whole bunch. We kind of know the situation, we know who we are, we know we can fight out of it. So, just keep on digging.  Logano said.

Going into the next race at Bristol, where he last won in 2022, Logano would be hopeful. The race is on concrete and Ford’s domination on the second race of the year at Bristol last year gives him some well-placed hope.
