Dale Earnhardt Jr. hails Daniel Suarez’s ‘mental gymnastics and toughness’ after photo-finish win at Atlanta
David Yeazell-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into the 2024 NASCAR Cup season, Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez was one of the handful of drivers in the hot seat. Following a disappointing 2023 season that saw him finish winless and three development drivers Trackhouse signed during the offseason, it was rumored that Suarez would be replaced if he failed to perform.

Daniel Suarez has now put an end to all those rumors by impressively winning the Atlanta Cup race. He was able to finish 0.003 seconds ahead of Ryan Blaney in a three-car photo finish and claim his second-ever in the NASCAR Cup series. The win was a testament to his prowess as he was left without a pusher in the last two corners of the race.

Many drivers and NASCAR personalities have been showering Suarez with praise for winning the milestone event and NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has joined the list. He, via a post on X, congratulated Suarez and highlighted the mental toughness he showed. Junior added that the race had an impressive finish.

Congrats Daniel Suarez. Well deserved. The mental gymnastics and toughness to get through that entire event and put the finishing moves together was so impressive. Dale Jr. wrote on X.

Daniel Suarez had a one-line response to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s message

The Trackhouse Racing driver came across the praise from NASCAR’s most famous driver ever on X and was quick to respond to the post. He responded by thanking Junior who he sees as a friend. Suarez wrote, “Thank you my friend.”

Saurez has secured the spot in the 2024 playoff and now will be hoping to build on that momentum to secure a couple more wins before the end of the regular season. He is in the position to have the best Cup season of his career.

Suarez can also use this opportunity as leverage to secure another multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse. If he is able to continue the same form, 2024 would be a career-defining season for the Mexican driver.
