Yankees Top Prospect Officially Receives Invite To Spring Training
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

New York Yankees fans will get a chance to take a look at the future this spring.

Spring Training quickly is approaching and soon enough it will be here. The Yankees are in a much better spot than they were at the end of the 2023 campaign. New York should be considered one of the top clubs in baseball and there is a lot to look out for in Spring Training.

The biggest headline of the spring certainly will be Yankees fans' first look at superstar slugger Juan Soto in a New York jersey. Another big storyline to be on the lookout for will be top prospect, Spencer Jones.

New York officially announced its non-roster invitees to Spring Training and the Yankees' No. 1 prospect made the cut. Jones is just 22 years old and very likely won't see much time if any with the big league club in 2024, but it will be interesting to see how he fares in Spring Training.

Jones was selected by the Yankees in the first round of the 2022 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft and quickly has shot up the farm system. He began his professional career in 2022 with the Florida Complex League Yankees and Class-A Tampa Tarpons.

Last season, he saw time with both the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades and the Double-A Somerset Patriots. In two minor league seasons, Jones has appeared in 142 games and has clubbed 20 home runs, drove in 78 runs, stolen 55 bases, and slashed .279/.351/.459.

He has found his name in trade rumors this offseason but New York hasn't swung a deal involving him. If Jones is going to make his big league debut in 2024, it likely wouldn't be until late in the season. If not, don't be surprised if you see him at Yankee Stadium in 2025.
