Adrian Newey ‘s exit from Red Bull has been a major topic of discussion in the F1 paddock. Multiple people believe that the ever-growing tensions at Red Bull caused Newey to leave the Austrian team. The aero-genius hasn’t responded to these rumors and hasn’t revealed the real reason yet. However, this move could mean multiple other top spots might be considering leaving the team. Hence, McLaren CEO Zak Brown reckoned that this was just the start of a domino effect..

Zak Brown highlighted that he wasn’t surprised to hear the news of Adrian Newey leaving Red Bull in 2025. The news would’ve been surprising if it had come out six months ago. However, keeping in mind Red Bull’s dominance, it wasn’t surprising to see Newey consider leaving the team. Brown also complimented the technical wizard over his race craft and called him a ‘high integrity individual’.

Am I surprised? Six months ago, I would have been surprised, I think given everything that's gone on since the start of the year and knowing Adrian [Newey] pretty well, he's [a] very high integrity individual. I'm not surprised he is moving on. Zak Brown said, as reported racingnews365.com.

Zak Brown also shared his opinion on the tensions at Red Bull after Dietrich Mateschitz‘s death back in 2022. Brown mentioned that things were ‘destabilizing’ at the Austrian constructor. Hence, Adrian Newey’s exit was just the first domino to fall. Other senior figures could soon leave the team behind the highly sought-after engineer.

I think with the stuff that's going on there [at Red Bull] it is a bit destabilising. It's probably the first domino to fall, my guess is not the last based on the resumes flying around. Zak Brown noted.

Zak Brown reveals that McLaren saw an ‘increase’ in Red Bull applicants after Adrian Newey’s exit

Zak Brown revealed the fact that after Adrian Newey’s exit, McLaren received multiple CVs from Red Bull employees. This meant that multiple people wanted to leave the team after Newey’s departure. Additionally, the 52-year-old applauded the highly decorated resume of the Englishman. Brown highlighted that multiple people wanted to work alongside people like the 65-year-old.

Yeah, we've seen an increase in CVs coming our way from Red Bull. Adrian [Newey] is the most successful designer of all time. So, in addition to the technical [knowledge] that he brings to the racing team, people want to work for people like Adrian Newey, and work alongside him. Zak Brown mentioned.

Hence, talking about what Red Bull will miss out on, Brown asserted that the team will miss what Newey had to offer from a technical point of view. Additionally, the leadership and excitement while working with the aero-genius would be missing from the team. As a result, the 65-year-old’s exit might be something more than just an engineer leaving the constructor.

So I think they'll be missing what he brings to the team from a pure technical point of view, and then I think the leadership and the excitement people get from working with him will be missed. Zak Brown concluded.

Hence, Adrian Newey’s future in Formula 1 will be highly exciting for fans worldwide. The 65-year-old might likely consider retirement from the sport. However, if Newey decides to join another constructor, he would be taking a lot of knowledge to the team. The regulation change of the 2026 season could pack a few surprises if the Englishman joins a new team.
