I am anticipating going through withdrawals. There are only two Sundays of football left this season: conference championships and then the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl weekend doesn’t count. That game is lame.
During 9 months of unemployment sports have really become an escape. I’ve watched and written about more football than at any other time in my life. I’ve loved every minute of it. Now it is about to come to an end. Cue the scary music and pass the anxiety medication.
It won’t just be me that misses it. My wife is even more of a football fan than I am. Plus our six year old son loves to watch the games and pretend to run touchdowns from the living room to the kitchen. He will miss identifying all of the team logos when he sees them on-screen.
It will be an adjustment for the whole family. Sundays will no longer be church then football. We’ll still go to church but the afternoon and evening will need a new activity. I’m open to suggestions.
By the time August rolls around again we will definitely be ready for professional and college football to reenter our lives. Until then, pray for us.
